I often get a lot of inquiries about my services concerning experience level, transitioning and student resumes. People think that Cybersecurity is an intimidating field or that they need tons of technical experience. If you feel like you’ve got a case of imposter syndrome or that you “don’t belong” in Cybersecurity I’m here to tell you otherwise. Cybersecurity is a pretty expansive field with space for many non-technical people. Chances are that if you work in tech, you’re likely already practicing a form of Cybersecurity in your current role and just need translate those skills over.
Here’s a Cybersecurity resume review from a 22 year old that’s now making 6 figures. Believe in yourself & trust the process.
“Working with Katia for the past few months has been amazing. I remember attending a Blacks
in Cybersecurity event in the beginning of the year, where I was first introduced to Katia. She
gave a phenomenal presentation that included resourceful tips, interview techniques and other
career development advice to those new to the cybersecurity field or trying to land their first job
in the field. During this time, I was currently enrolled in my Masters program for Cybersecurity
and actively applying for jobs. It was rejection after rejection. But, I am a huge believer in:
“Man’s ‘No’ cannot stop God’s ‘Yes’.”
I decided to reach out to Katia for assistance. She was super welcoming, understanding and
available. She took the time to understand my needs, wants and future career goals. She
provided me with feedback on my resume and helped me rearrange it to fit what recruiters were
looking for in the positions I was applying to. Moreover, she advised me on certifications I need
to work on to make myself more marketable. I continued applying to jobs with Katia’s advice and
began receiving interviews back to back. The ball was now in my court. I had big decisions to
make with job offers rolling in on a daily basis. Her services did not end when the offers were
received. Katia not only helped me understand the verbiage of the offers, she also helped me
negotiate my salary – with confidence.
I am proud to say that I have been offered multiple job offers, two of which offered me 6-figure
salaries at the age of 22. Thank you for all of your help, Katia! I am excited to be embarking on
this new journey headed into the new year!
What are the 2 position titles that you were offered ?
Hello,
The two positions was a ISSE and Senior Consultant dealing with Data Science. This was over a 4-month process so it was a learning experience for her as well.
