UMUC Cybersecurity Program

A Graduate Student’s Perspective About UMUC Cybersecurity Technology Program

My experience at UMUC Master’s program in Cybersecurity Technology has been an interesting eye opening experience. Initially, it was a typical three semester program that included course work with weekly class discussions, researching topics within cybersecurity and scheduled deadlines.

The school offered a new format, which included four terms a year with suggested milestones for the course work. This new platform taught the students about time management, problem solving skills, and developing teamwork skills.

From my experience this new platform encouraged me to develop my skills in time management. It also taught me to become a leader in most of the team projects within the course work. I was able to share other ideas from other classmates and help everyone along the way. This platform also had a variety of professors with a variety of teaching styles. Adjusting to a variety of teaching skills enhanced my writing ability and developed more critical thinking and analysis .

I encourage anyone looking for a cyber-security program to attend UMUC. This school cares about the students’ opinions and wants to hear from the students. You will never know what you can change if you don’t speak up and let your voice be heard.

There are many different areas of cybersecurity that both technical and creative professionals can benefit from. Check out my other post where I go into the different subsets and how you can get into cybersecurity.
