Cyber Maryland 2017 A Student Perspective

The purpose of this article is to inform the reader about networking at conference events. I wanted to divvy up my experience attending a cyber conference called “Cyber Maryland 2017″ https://www.mdcyber.com/maryland-cyber-day/this conference had numerous information sessions to bring  cyber awareness and I also attended a job fair.

During this event  I attended three cyber awareness sessions and enhanced my networking skills.  One session dealt with diversity in cybersecurity. In this session , three women shared their experiences , there were different point of views on the topic.   Some key points from this session included:  women are needed in this industry, you can be successful if you don’t have certifications, and make sure this is your passion.

The second session was about education &  training for the workforce’s future. This session was intense, different point of views either you disagree or agree no right answer.  Some of the central details in this discussion: most employers want you to have every requirement for the job position, some employers appreciate experience over a degree, finally the job descriptions will need to revamp so more people can help the cyber arena.

The third session was about cyber defense tools. The two companies shared information around their company and how to contribute back to the community and to get the next cyber generation.

In conclusion attending this event was informative nonetheless, because of the overpowering quantity of sessions you had to pick and pick out which session to go to.  Below is some tips I wanted to share about networking and how useful these events are to develop your networking skills.

Once the sessions ending it was time to network. If you are new to networking here are some tips that I find useful
